Jin Shin Jyutsu- The Healing Touch

Summary written by  by Deborah Engisch-Platt: (www.awakenche.org)

“Jin Shin Jyutsu® brings balance to the body’s energies, promoting optimal health and well-being, while supporting our own profound healing capacity. In addition to being highly effective as a “modality”, it can be utilized as a valuable, non-invasive complement alongside other healing methods. This ancient art provides stress relief, along with encouraging a deep level of relaxation to bring harmony into our lives.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is essentially a highly refined form of “light touch acupressure”, and also a multi-dimensional healing art that works to simultaneously harmonize the body, mind and spirit. It involves linking into the specific “gateways”, known as Safety Energy Locks (SELs) which allow us to access the energetic pathways, we call flows. These flows follow specific channels throughout the body, for the various organs, electrical/energy circulation (also known as Prana, Qi/Ki or Chi) blood circulation, the muscular/skeletal and nervous systems, and in turn our mental/emotional and spiritual levels. It follows the principals of Traditional Asian Medicine, which maintain that all pain, discomfort, and disease are all the result of the body’s energy system being out of harmony, “stuck” or “blocked”.

In following this philosophy of treating the body as a whole and resolving the problems at their core cellular level, it restores overall harmony, within the energetic system. When there is harmony, we experience a sense of renewed vitality, well-being and optimal health: we are in balance. However, if we become blocked or cutoff from ourselves, the body feels the effect, leading to health problems, manifesting as mental, emotional, and spiritual issues which may result in physical symptoms. We become aware of it when our body is affected, and we’re constantly on edge, getting sick all the time, feeling stiff and sore, or out of sorts. It can be due to stress, trauma, injuries, or major life changes such as a deep personal loss.

Although Jin Shin Jyutsu was prevalent in Japan for hundreds of years, it had fallen into obscurity over the centuries. It was revived by the study and dedication of Master Jiro Murai in the early 1900’s, after curing himself of a critical illness using the principles of Jin Shin Jyutsu. The rest of his life was centered on the unearthing of this Art from many sources. He passed on his learning to Mary Burmeister, who taught and practiced the Art in the U.S.A. JSJ classes are now being taught worldwide, by their approved instructors.

Thousands of people are discovering optimum health and well-being, through the practice of Jin Shin Jyutsu, learned in classes, self-help books, and sessions.

There are online resources, such as websites, Facebook, YouTube tutorial videos, magazine articles, or books such as “The Touch of Healing”, by Alice Burmeister, or the booklet and card set “Health is in Your Hands”: “Practicing the Art of Self Healing”, by JSJ Instructor: Waltraud Riegger-Krouse.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is being used in hospitals, such as the one in Morristown, NJ for ER patients, as well as in their Cardiac Care Unit, and also at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, KY. and in private practices throughout the world. Many professional Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioners are often certified and licensed massage therapists. Sessions are given to clients, as they rest fully clothed, on a massage table, or in hospital beds, and sometimes in chairs, depending on their needs & physical condition. JSJ can also be utilized in emergency situations to stop choking or bleeding, aid breathing, halt seizures, and for helping to balance irregular heart rate, until medical help arrives.

The results of these treatments are a deeply felt sense of lightness and relaxation, reduction and relief from stress and anxiety, easing grief and depression, while clearing pain, and accelerating the healing process. It has been known to help with balancing blood pressure, restoring normal heart rates, clearing headaches and migraines, relieving bodily aches and pains from broken bones, sprains and strains, overwork, etc.

Studies have shown JSJ to be highly effective for balancing the body’s response to vaccinations and anesthesia, chemotherapy and radiation treatments, relieving nausea and helping the healing process, along with stroke prevention and recovery, allergic reactions, asthma and other respiratory restrictions.

Practitioners of the Art observe and determine our clients needs through pulse listening, and looking to the body to establish where the individual may be out of harmony, and of course by what we’re told as well. The pulses and ‘body reading’ provide important clues as to what needs to be cleared and brought into balance.

Much like acupuncture, but without the needles, Jin Shin Jyutsu is a valuable tool for restoring and strengthening the immune system of the body, while harmonizing the mental/emotional states of being.”
